Freego Electric Vehicle Usage and Liability Disclaimer
FREEGO Europe – Product Use, Safety & Legal Disclaimer
Last Updated: September 2026
This disclaimer contains important information regarding the intended use, safety, legal status and operation of FREEGO electric vehicles sold through FREEGO Europe. Please read it carefully before purchasing or operating a FREEGO product.
1. Product Classification and Intended Use
1.1 FREEGO X2 Pro
The FREEGO X2 Pro is a high-performance, pedal-equipped electric dirt bike designed primarily for off-road recreational use.
Under European Union rules, a conventional pedal-assisted cycle that falls outside motor-vehicle type-approval requirements is generally limited to a maximum continuous rated motor power of 250W, with motor assistance progressively reduced and cut off before the vehicle reaches 25 km/h.
The unrestricted performance of the FREEGO X2 Pro exceeds these limits. Therefore, the X2 Pro should not be considered a standard 250W / 25 km/h EPAC or ordinary city e-bike.
FREEGO Europe markets the X2 Pro primarily as an:
High-Performance Off-Road Electric Dirt Bike
Unless a particular vehicle has obtained the approvals, registration, insurance and other documentation required by the country in which it is operated, it must not be assumed to be legal for use on public roads, public cycle paths or other areas where road-approved vehicles are required.
The X2 Pro is primarily intended for use in locations such as:
- Private property with the property owner's permission
- Closed riding areas
- Designated off-road riding areas
- Off-road trails where powered vehicles are permitted
- Other non-public areas where this type of vehicle may legally be operated
Rules concerning electric vehicles and off-road vehicles vary between European countries and may also differ at regional or local level.
The rider is responsible for checking and complying with the laws and access rules applicable in the location where the vehicle is used.
1.2 Restricted and Off-Road Performance Modes
Certain FREEGO models may provide different electronic performance settings or riding modes.
A reduced-speed or restricted performance setting is intended to provide different riding characteristics and does not automatically make the vehicle road legal, homologated, registered or classified as a standard European e-bike.
Where applicable, FREEGO may describe these settings as:
Restricted Performance Mode
and
Off-Road Performance Mode
Road legality depends on the complete vehicle specification, certification, approval status and applicable national and local regulations—not solely on the selected speed mode.
2. Rider Responsibilities
Operating an electric dirt bike involves inherent risks. Riders are responsible for using the vehicle safely, responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws.
Before riding, users should:
- Check national and local regulations
- Confirm that the vehicle is permitted in the intended riding area
- Obtain permission before riding on private property
- Wear appropriate protective equipment
- Follow all safety instructions in the user manual
- Ride at a speed appropriate for the terrain, weather, visibility and rider experience
- Maintain a safe distance from pedestrians, animals and other vehicles
- Keep the vehicle properly maintained
- Inspect brakes, tires, battery, controls and other important components before riding
- Never operate the vehicle while impaired by alcohol, drugs or other substances that affect riding ability
Because the X2 Pro is capable of high levels of acceleration and performance, inexperienced riders should become familiar with the vehicle using lower performance settings before operating it at full power.
3. Protective Equipment
FREEGO strongly recommends the use of suitable protective riding equipment whenever operating the X2 Pro or another high-performance FREEGO vehicle.
Recommended equipment includes:
- An approved helmet suitable for the type of riding
- Eye protection
- Riding gloves
- Protective riding clothing
- Suitable footwear
- Knee and elbow protection where appropriate
Additional protection may be appropriate for high-speed, trail, jump or other demanding off-road riding.
Where protective equipment is required by law or by the operator of a riding facility, those requirements must be followed.
4. Product Modification
Do not make unauthorized modifications to safety-critical vehicle components or systems.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Battery systems
- Motor controllers
- Motor systems
- Firmware or software
- Speed-control systems
- Braking systems
- Electrical wiring
- Charging systems
- Structural components
Unauthorized modifications may affect vehicle safety, reliability, performance and legal classification.
They may also affect warranty coverage where permitted by applicable law.
Repairs or modifications involving safety-critical components should be performed using compatible parts and, where appropriate, by a qualified technician.
5. Battery and Charging Safety
FREEGO electric vehicles use high-capacity lithium-ion battery systems.
Although modern lithium-ion batteries include multiple safety features, improper use, physical damage, unsuitable charging equipment, extreme temperatures or incorrect storage may create a risk of overheating, fire or other hazardous conditions.
Users should:
- Use only the charger supplied with the vehicle or a charger specifically approved by FREEGO
- Never charge a visibly damaged battery
- Inspect the battery, charger, connector and cables regularly
- Charge the battery in a dry and adequately ventilated location
- Keep the battery and charger away from flammable materials while charging
- Avoid exposing the battery to fire or excessive heat
- Do not open, crush, puncture or dismantle the battery
- Follow the charging and storage instructions provided in the user manual
- Allow the battery to cool after demanding use before charging where recommended
- Stop using the battery if it becomes swollen, damaged, unusually hot or produces an unusual smell
If abnormal battery behavior is observed, stop using the vehicle and contact FREEGO customer support.
Any battery certification displayed on a FREEGO product page relates to the specific battery or component identified and should not be interpreted as public-road approval or vehicle homologation in Europe.
6. General Riding Risks
Electric dirt-bike riding may involve risks including loss of control, falls, collisions and contact with obstacles or uneven terrain.
High speed, strong acceleration, loose surfaces, steep terrain, jumps, poor visibility, rider error and unsuitable riding conditions can significantly increase these risks.
Improper operation may result in:
- Serious personal injury
- Injury to other persons
- Property damage
- Damage to the vehicle
- In extreme circumstances, death
Riders should never operate the vehicle beyond their experience or ability and should adjust their riding style to the conditions.
7. Public Road Use
Do not assume that the presence of pedals, lights, a speed limiter or a restricted riding mode makes a FREEGO high-performance vehicle legal for public-road use.
Vehicle classification requirements may include, depending on the country and vehicle:
- Type approval or homologation
- Vehicle registration
- Insurance
- Number plates
- Approved lighting or other road equipment
- Driver licensing
- Minimum rider age
- Helmet requirements
- Other technical or administrative requirements
Customers are responsible for confirming the legal requirements applicable to their country before operating the vehicle on public roads or other regulated public areas.
8. Insurance
FREEGO recommends that riders consider appropriate insurance for their intended use of the vehicle.
Depending on the country, vehicle classification and intended riding location, insurance may be legally required.
Users should confirm whether they require:
- Motor-vehicle liability insurance
- Personal accident insurance
- Personal liability insurance
- Property-damage coverage
- Off-road vehicle coverage
Riders should also confirm whether existing household, personal liability or accident insurance policies cover powered off-road vehicles.
9. Warranty, Consumer Rights and Liability
FREEGO products must be used according to their intended purpose and the instructions provided with the vehicle.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FREEGO is not responsible for damage resulting solely from circumstances such as:
- Reckless or improper operation
- Use outside the vehicle's intended purpose
- Unauthorized modification
- Failure to follow safety instructions
- Improper charging or battery handling

Particular attention should be given to:
- Brakes

Do not continue riding if a safety-critical component is damaged, loose or operating abnormally.
